12 Nigerian workers who were rescued from the Central African Republic had recounted how their employers who are Chinese nationals s.exually abused them.

3 weeks after their video made rounds on the internet, the twelve stranded men finally made it to Nigeria and visited the Nidcom office.

They were warmly welcomed and hosted by the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in Abuja on Friday, August 15.

“I am not ashamed to say it. I want other people to learn from it. We were treated badly there but thank God for sparing our lives to tell the stories today. I am one of those people who usually abuse Nigeria and I don’t think anything good can come out of the country but we were all so happy to receive help and succour from Nigeria

Let me use this opportunity to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the CAR Ambassador in Bangui, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) NEMA, Immigration Service and other government agencies for coming to our rescue almost immediately” he said

Igorigo Freeborn, the leader of the rescued laborers, claimed that their Chinese bosses in the Central African Republic exploited them even though they were still owed 11 months’ wages.

Freeborn begged the government to assist them in redressing the injustices committed against them by their superiors, stating that they had endured a great deal of suffering in the 20 months since they left Nigeria.
